BARNSLEY SIGN STONES

Barnsley have managed to secure the future of the highly rated defender John Stones on a new contract. The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the highly rated players from the club in recent seasons. He was recently included in the squad for the England under 19 team that will play against Germany in a friendly match in the next couple of weeks. The Barnsley manager Keith Hill gave a debut for the player in the recent 4-3 win over Rochdale. The 18-year-old is expected to go on to bigger and better things in the next few seasons.

Hence, it was extremely important for the club to secure the future of the player, as it would only increase the transfer value. The manager Keith Hill has said that he is extremely delighted at the decision taken by the player to extend his stay at the club. After struggling with relegation throughout the last season, Barnsley will be hoping for a slightly better season this time around. They have made a decent start to the 2012-13 Championship season. Even though they have lost in the opening match of the season, they have recovered to win the second match against Middlesbrough.

“We’re in contact with Doncaster but it’ll come down to the player because I believe there are other clubs interested in him. He’s an experienced, gifted player and he’s a very creative threat,” said the manager Keith Hill after announcing the news that the player has signed a new three-year contract with the club. Barnsley will be facing Brighton and Hove Albion during the weekend. This match will be followed by a tough couple of fixtures against the likes of Swansea city, Blackburn Rovers, and Blackpool in the League cup and also in the Championship. The presence of John Stones for the next three years has now been confirmed.
